2024 season audition information
Auditions are required for twirlers, color guard members, percussionists and all wind players who aren't music majors. Wind players already accepted to SFA and the School of Music don't need to audition for LMB.
Auditions dates:
- Feb. 24 and 25 - twirler auditions
- March 23 - wind player auditions
- April 27 - wind player auditions
Percussion and color guard auditions are held in August, prior to full band camp. Audition requirements and materials will be posted in the spring.

Early move-in to residence hall
The 2024 schedule for LMB member move in:
- Aug. 13 - Percussion and color guard all members
- Aug. 17 - Wind and brass new members
- Aug. 18 - Twirl-O-Jacks and full band

Course credit
All LMB members are enrolled in a music course that follows their plan of study and receive two credit hours for participating in the band. Transfer students may be eligible for upper-level credit. If you have questions, contact the band office or your advisor.
Cost
In addition to the course cost, wind and percussion members of LMB should expect to spend approximately $150 for all necessary accessories, including gloves, polo shirt, etc. All travel expenses, including meals, are paid by the School of Music.
Renting an instrument
We are able to supply some instruments, including sousaphone, marching baritone, mellophone and piccolo. Other instruments may be available in limited quantities and are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The instrument rental fee is $50.
Rehearsals and performances
Rehearsals are held 4-6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and on Saturday mornings of home games. The color guard rehearses one additional evening during the week.
Additional performances include the Homecoming parade in downtown Nacogdoches and a performance during the annual Homecoming bonfire pep rally.
