The Physical Plant Department is dedicated to providing an environment that supports the mission and core values of the university in an efficient, safe, and cost effective manner. Working as a team, Physical Plant employees fulfill this mission by serving SFA students, faculty, staff, and all university programs to contribute to their success and quality of life.
Submit a Request
The Physical Plant Department is responsible for the administration of all education and general facilities and associated services, including:
- Building maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting)
- Grounds maintenance
- Custodial services (Cleaning, Recycling)
- Transportation services (maintenance, rental, shuttles/road buses)
- Street maintenance (cleaning, paving, sealing, striping)
Students: Submit a work request online or visit your hall's front desk. Call 936.468.6623, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for high-priority situations such as flooding, fire, tripped breakers, plumbing stoppages, issues with card readers, HVAC repairs, or light bulb replacement.
Faculty/Staff: If you are in need of Physical Plant services for any location other than a Residence Hall, please visit the AiM Customer Request page.

Emergency
An emergency is a situation which can cause bodily harm, structural damage, or a work stoppage. In the event an emergency occurs during regular business hours, please contact the Physical Plant at ext. 3206 or the University Police Department immediately. After hours contact the UPD at ext. 2608.
The following are some examples of what would be classified as an emergency:
- Fire smoke, or burning odors
- Natural gas odors
- Heavy flooding
- Loss of power or water
- Explosion
If at any time you are uncertain whether a present situation would be considered an emergency, please contact the Physical Plant or UPD immediately, and we will assist you accordingly.
