The road to becoming a Lumberjack

Ready to apply to SFA? We’ve put together a simple checklist to keep the process easy and hassle-free. Follow these steps, and you won’t have to worry about forgetting a thing, from improving your chances of getting a scholarship to lining up your housing.

Step 1: Experience SFA in person

Tour campus

Take a road trip to Nacogdoches and see our beautiful campus for yourself. Our maps will help you find a parking spot.

Attend Showcase Saturday

Come to one of our Showcase Saturday open house events for prospective students and parents. We typically host one event in the fall and two in the spring.

Step 2: Apply to SFA

Create a resume

Assemble a list of activities and honors to help speed up your application process.

Transcript and scores

Send your official high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores to the university.

Apply for admission

It's time to complete your application! Applying early has its benefits, but there is no deadline to apply. Essays and letters of recommendation are not required.

Admission decision

Look for your decision letter two to three weeks after your completed application is received.

Step 3: Right after you apply

Set up mySFA

Set up your mySFA account as soon as you receive the login credentials by mail.

Get vaccinated

Submit your meningitis shot records to Admissions – it’s required to secure housing. You must submit your shot record to the Office of Admissions by email, fax or mail using the contact information below.

Apply for housing

First-year students are required to live on campus. Complete your residence hall application on mySFA and submit the $100 deposit via mySFA.

Apply for aid and scholarships

You can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) beginning in October. You can start applying for scholarships as early as September.
