The Genre, Media, and Culture track analyzes works across a wider variety of media as they shape, reflect, and respond to broader movements and forces within cultures. In addition to a solid core of American, British, and World literature, the curriculum for this exciting and flexible new track gives students the freedom to explore multi-media narrative forms, including film, visual rhetoric, and cross-genre areas like games. This track also includes coursework options focused on how texts and other language-based artifacts reflect and construct region, ethnicity, race, and gender.

Students also take an English professionalization seminar in which they create a plan and conduct customized research on career opportunities, including internships, entry-level jobs, and graduate study.
