Make scholarship applications a priority
You’ve completed your application to SFA, scheduled an appointment with an advisor, found a place to live and even mocked up a class schedule. Your next decision – how are you going to pay for it all?
In addition to scholarships provided by SFA, you have access to hundreds of opportunities to get scholarship funding to help you with college expenses. You just need to explore and apply! Most application deadlines are Feb. 15 of each year.
Opportunities for students in the James I. Perkins College of Education
Addijo Williams Education Scholarship
The Addijo Williams Education Scholarship is for education majors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Bates Family Education Scholarship
The Bates Family Education Scholarship is for education majors with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Bill Greer Memorial Scholarship
The Bill Greer Memorial Scholarship is for education majors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Bobbie Hargis Todd Scholarship
The Bobbie Hargis Todd Scholarship supports SFA students who are the children or spouses of a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty.
Cecil and Darlene Roby Memorial Scholarship
The Cecil and Darlene Roby Memorial Scholarship is for a student pursuing an education major with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Chadwick Scholarship
The Chadwick Scholarship is intended for education majors who graduated from Center High School.
Charles E. Root Education Scholarship
The Charles E. Root Education Scholarship is for education majors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Charles Stokes Liberal Arts Scholarship
This award is for an incoming freshman from Nacogdoches High School. Preference is given to history majors.
Emmons Family Scholarship
The Emmons Family Scholarship is intended to benefit an education major, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, who also is a member of a Panhellenic Council sorority or Interfraternity Council fraternity
The SFA Panhellenic or IFC chapter must be recognized by the Office of Student Affairs Programs' Fraternity and Sorority Life staff members.
Note: This scholarship also is available to business majors.
Ellen V. Miller Education Scholarship
The Ellen V. Miller Education Scholarship is for education majors, sophomore or higher, with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Herrington-Moore Excellence in Teaching Scholarship
The Herrington-Moore Excellence in Teaching Scholarship is intended for Garrison Independent School District teachers pursuing advanced degrees within the James I. Perkins College of Education.
Hulie Freeze Education Scholarship
The Hulie Freeze Education Scholarship is for education majors who are classified as juniors or seniors.
J.A. and Mollie Sitton Spears Memorial Scholarship
The J.A. and Mollie Sitton Spears Memorial Scholarship is for the benefit of students within the education college.
Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship
The Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship is intended for an undergraduate education major maintaining a 3.25 GPA.
Langston and Virginia Kerr Education Scholarship
The Langston and Virginia Kerr Education Scholarship is for education majors with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Levi and Nannie Martin Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a liberal arts major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must be graduates of Nacogdoches High School to be eligible.
Louise Jeter Education Scholarship
The Louise Jeter Education Scholarship is intended for an education major who transferred from Kilgore Junior College.
The student must have a minimum of 54 hours earned and a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
M.H. and Nettie Poore Hopson Memorial Scholarship
The M.H. and Nettie Poore Hopson Memorial Scholarship is for an education major, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, who graduated from one of the following:
- Alto High School
- Carthage High School
- Jacksonville High School
Maco Stewart Education Scholarship
The Maco Stewart Education Scholarship is intended for an undergraduate education major maintaining a 2.5 GPA.
The student must demonstrate financial need.
Marie Gann Martin Scholarship
The Marie Gann Martin Scholarship is for an education major who graduated from Central Heights High School.
Nathan and Susan Reese Scholarship
The Nathan and Susan Reese Scholarship is intended to benefit an education major, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, who also is a member of Sigma Chi or Alpha Chi Omega.
The SFA chapter must be recognized by the Office of Student Affairs Programs' Fraternity and Sorority Life staff members.
Note: This scholarship also is available to business majors
Sequor Foundation Scholarship
The Sequor Foundation Scholarship is intended for an education major with a 2.5 GPA. Recipient must live in one of the following counties:
- Angelina
- Cass
- Gregg
- Harrison
- Marion
- Nacogdoches
- Panola
- Rusk
- Sabine
- San Augustine
- Shelby
- Smith
- Upshur
Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship
The Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship is intended for a graduate level education student who is a member or eligible for membership in Phi Delta Kappa.
Tom and Laura Crawford Education Scholarship
The Tom and Laura Crawford Education Scholarship is intended for a graduate of Henderson High School pursuing any education major.
University Regents Scholarship
This award opportunity is for first-time incoming students at the freshman, sophomore or junior level who plan to major in liberal arts. Learn more about requirements and renewals.
Van and Loyce Samford Education Scholarship
The Van and Loyce Samford Education Scholarship is intended for an education major maintaining a 2.0 GPA.
The student must demonstrate financial need.
Vesper and Oma Hughes Scholarship
The Vesper and Oma Hughes Scholarship is for an education major who graduated from Garrison High School and has a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
William C. "Wild Bill" Marshall Liberal Arts Scholarship
This scholarship is for undergraduate students who must meet the following requirements:
- be a liberal arts major
- be a full-time student
- be from Brazoria, Fort Bend, Matagorda or Montgomery County
- have a GPA of 2.5 or higher (if currently enrolled at SFA)
- and have an ACT score of 26 or higher (if an incoming freshman)
