Summer enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to make changes to your insurance benefits and/or TexFlex flexible spending account (FSA) without a qualifying life event. Otherwise, changes may only be made if a qualifying life event change has occurred. Benefits included are health, dental, vision, optional term life and dependent life, voluntary accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), short-term and long-term disability, and flexible spending accounts (FSAs).

This year's benefits summer enrollment period runs from June 27, 2022 through July 8, 2022. Benefits eligible employees can log onto ERS Online and make summer enrollment changes during the entire enrollment period.

Any enrollment changes made to your coverage during Summer enrollment are effective on September 1, 2022

Important Reminder: If you don't want to make changes to your benefits, no action is required during summer enrollment. Your current coverage will continue to the new plan year.

Changes outside of Summer Enrollment:

Outside of the annual Summer Enrollment period, you may be able to make specific benefits changes within 30 days of certain qualifying life events (QLE). See Family Status Change Reference Chart (PDF) on making benefits changes.

Plans you can change at any time:

Supplemental retirement savings plans such as a tax-sheltered annuity (TSA) 403(b) plan or Texa$aver 457 deferred compensation plan.

In-Person Summer Enrollment Changes

Eligible employees can make summer enrollment changes on the Employee Retirement System of Texas website from Monday, June 27 through July 8, 2022.

Human Resources staff members will be available in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 3rd floor in Room 3.100 to assist employees who prefer to make benefit changes in-person on the below dates and times.

June 27   2 to 4 p.m.
June 28   10 a.m. to noon
June 29   1 to 3 p.m.
June 30   2 to 4 p.m.
July 1       9:20 to 11:30 a.m.
July 5       9 to 11 a.m.
July 6       10 a.m. to noon
July 7       1 to 3 p.m.
July 8       10 a.m. to noon
                  1:30 to 4 p.m.

NOTICE: If you need to make a Family Status Change or Post Hire Change (marriage, newborn, new employee eligibility period) during the months of June, July and August, you will need to notify SFA Human Resources Benefits at benefits@sfasu.edu. During the summer enrollment period, ERS does not allow employees to use ERS OnLine to make these types of changes.
