  • Botany Bliss - May 11, 2024
Join Kay Jenkins, SFA Gardens environmental education programs coordinator, at 9:00 a.m. on May 11, 2024, to learn the names and characteristics of plants blooming in the gardens of the Pineywoods Native Plant Center. Participating children will be encouraged to use their observation skills and build their appreciation for biodiversity and the beauty of the natural world around them. Attendees are then invited to stay and create a gift for mom. Different gift activities will be offered in accordance with the ages of participants. This is a free event, however donations to support environmental education activities at the SFA Gardens are always appreciated.

  • Pollinator Posse - June 22, 2024
Become a citizen scientist by learning how to use the iNaturalist app to identify and post pollinators found in the SFA Gardens as part of National Pollinator Week. Check back for more details or email sfagardens@sfasu.edu

Little Princess Tea Party

Grab your tiara and get ready for a magical day of treats, fairy gardens, magic and merriment at the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden! The Little Princess Tea Party returns to the SFA Gardens on April 13, 2024. Fun activities, including singing, story time, and more will be led by SFA Gardens environmental education fairies. Teatime snacks and drinks will be provided. A special feature for this year’s party is that guests will be able to interact with live butterflies and discover the role butterflies and other insects play in helping plants make seeds, fruits, and vegetables. The event is recommended for princesses 3 to 10 years of age who are accompanied by an adult. SFA Gardens thanks the sponsors of the 2024 Little Princess Tea Party including an anonymous donor, Stephanie Malott with ETX Realty, and the Nacogdoches Photography Club, as well as the volunteers who help make this special event a wonderful memory for the attending little princesses. Proceeds from the event help support environmental education programs at SFA Gardens. Tickets for the 2024 Little Princess Tea Party are sold out.
